BREAK AND ENTER
Police are investigating after a garage was broken into sometime overnight Thursday May 21st, 2020 on Gladstone Avenue. Thieves gained entry-prying open a man door to the garage, stealing a Pioneer amplifier and box of safety glasses. Twenty-four-year old Mitchell Sop of St. Thomas was arrested Friday afternoon on Metcalfe Street. Officers were in the area for a disturbance and recognized Sop as being wanted on a warrant. Sop was taken into custody without incident and later released on an Undertaking with court date. He is charged with one count Theft Under $5000.
Thirty-year-old Anthony James (AJ) Mizon of St. Thomas was arrested Friday evening while walking in the Walmart parking lot located at 1063 Talbot Street. Mizon had a warrant for his arrest for Utter Forged Document, Possession of Stolen Property and Breach of Release Conditions x2 stemming from a break and enter to a law firm on Centre Street in late April 2020.
On May 23rd, 2020 at approximately 12:14 a.m. the St. Thomas Police were alerted to an erratic driver involving a male operating a go-cart along the Highway 3 By-pass. It was reported that the go-cart was operating at a high rate of speed without any lighting and the male driver was not wearing a helmet, but instead a black cowboy hat. Officers patrolled the area and located the go-cart stopped in the southbound lane of Centennial Avenue. Investigation lead to the arrest of a twenty-one-year old male for operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80+. The driver was transported to the St. Thomas Police station for further testing. It was determined that the driver had over three times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. The driver was subsequently charged and eventually released with a future court date.
