Six year old girl commended by Police

St Thomas Police are commending the actions of a six year old girl following a 9-1-1 telephone call Tuesday evening. Police say around 6:30PM the small girl contacted 9-1-1 alerting emergency services personnel that her mother had collapsed. Responding police, fire and paramedics attending the South end home say the mother was suffering from a severe diabetic episode. The quick actions of the child and training about the proper use of 9-1-1 prevented a medical situation that could of been much worse. Officers at the home provided the girl with a much deserved “buddy bear” and great deal of praise.

Shoplifter arrested

Shortly after 5:24PM Tuesday February 21, 2012 St Thomas Police arrested and charged a 56 year old male for shoplifting at a Talbot Street retail store. The accused was later released on conditions which included a future court date.
