Homicide Investigation

The investigation into the fatal fire at 70 Centre Street continues by the Criminal Investigation Branch of the St. Thomas Police Service. On August 31, 2010, the deceased was identified as Jason David FARRO, age 40, from Toronto. Death notification has been completed with the family.

A post mortem was completed on August 31, 2010 at London Health Sciences Centre, University Hospital. Results of the post mortem indicate the cause of death as a result of blunt force trauma. The homicide investigation continues.

Break and enter

St Thomas Police report, sometime between August 31, 2010 and September 1, 2010 a Wellington Street sports bar was broken into. Liquor was stolen from the premises. Graffiti

Sometime during the weekend of August 28, 2010 culprit(s) spray painted graffiti on a garbage bin, at a South end school.

Male arrested for assault

On Wednesday September 1, 2010 St Thomas Police attended a North end residence regarding, a domestic related occurrence. Investigation of the incident resulted in the arrest of a 52 year old St Thomas male for assaulting his female partner. The accused was held in custody overnight at police headquarters.

Impaired driver arrested

Shortly after 2:30AM Thursday September 02, 2010 St Thomas Police conducted a traffic stop on Amelia Street. While speaking with the 23 year old driver, the officer formed an opinion his ability to operate the vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to St Thomas Police headquarters, where he refused to provide breath samples. The accused has been charged with failing to provide a breath sample. He was later released on conditions that included a future court date.
