Cops for Cancer - December 15, 2007

Cops for Cancer, December 15, 2007

On Saturday, December 15, 2007, the Cops for Cancer event was held at the Elgin Mall in support of Mindy Cummings, the wife of St. Thomas Constable Luke Cummings, who has been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. More than forty (40) St. Thomas police officers were joined by several members from the OPP, the St. Thomas Fire Department and EMS to have their heads shaved and their efforts helped raise more than $22,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

As Police Services Board Chair, Carole Watson said, they now wear a new “badge of honour” in support of such a worthwhile cause.

On behalf of the St. Thomas Police Service, I extend my thanks to all the members of our community who supported the efforts of the Cops for Cancer campaign. We are proud to serve our community and we truly appreciate the overwhelming support we received from the public during the Cops for Cancer event.

Have a Safe and Happy Holiday.

B. Lynch
Chief of Police
